Aman Hotel Tokyo: Experience the epitome of luxury in Japan

Immerse yourself in the luxury of Tokyo at the Aman Hotel: elegance, exclusivity and spectacular views

The Aman Tokyo is one of the most ambitious luxury hotels in the Japanese capital, and after our stay it earned its reputation. It occupies the top six floors of the Otemachi Tower, which already gives the property a particular character: you arrive through a busy financial district and step into a space that feels like a different city.

Design and architecture. The Aman Hotel Tokyo was designed by Kerry Hill Architects and the influence shows in every corner. The lobby is one of the most striking we have seen: a 33-metre-high space with stone walls, a stretched washi paper ceiling, and a single ikebana arrangement that changes regularly. It is the kind of design that takes itself seriously without becoming theatrical.

Rooms and suites. The rooms at Aman Tokyo are unusually generous for the city, starting at 71 m². The aesthetic is Japanese minimalism done at a serious level: pale wood, washi screens, ofuro-style soaking tubs and large windows that look out over the Imperial Palace gardens or the skyline of central Tokyo. Comfort and a sense of calm are both present, which is harder to balance than it sounds.

Food and drink. The dining side of the Aman Hotel is strong without being a parade of flashy concepts. The Restaurant by Aman serves modern Italian, the Café focuses on Japanese seasonal dishes, and the bar is one of the better hotel bars in Tokyo. The breakfast is excellent: a choice between a traditional Japanese set and a Western breakfast, both prepared with the level of care you would expect from a property in this category.

Spa. The spa at Aman Resort Tokyo is among the best in Asia. It occupies two full floors and includes a 30-metre indoor pool with panoramic views of Tokyo. The treatment list is broad and the therapists are very capable. The combination of the pool, the onsen-inspired baths and the treatment rooms makes this one of the spots where you understand why people stay an extra night.

Service. The staff at The Aman Tokyo are attentive and discreet in equal measure. The level of personalisation is high: they remember preferences from the first interaction, anticipate logistics for the next day, and adapt the rhythm of the stay to what you actually want, not to what the rulebook suggests. This is one of the genuine differences between Aman and other luxury hotels in Tokyo.

Location. The Aman Tokyo Hotel sits in Otemachi, the financial heart of the city, with direct subway access through the building itself. The Imperial Palace and the East Gardens are within walking distance, and the Marunouchi shopping and dining area is a five-minute walk. From here, the rest of Tokyo opens up easily by metro.

If you are looking for a luxury stay in Tokyo that combines serious Japanese aesthetic with high-end service, the Aman Hotel Tokyo is a strong recommendation. It is not the cheapest option in the city, but it is one of the few where the price aligns with the experience.
