We started our adventure at 10:30 am in Munnar, at our hotel our guide Suresh was waiting for us as transportation is included in the tour.
We traveled by jeep with our guide, who drove us through breathtaking scenery to the village of Anakulam, a secluded place surrounded by lush reserve forests. The drive of approximately 43 kilometers took us through the Lekshmi Mountain, where we made many stops to admire the breathtaking views of the tea plantations that give that green and fresh touch to the surroundings. Every corner of Munnar and its tea plantations offered us a postcard to remember. Perumankuth National Park is a marvel.
In the morning we enjoyed the tea fields and the local village.
The tour took us to explore the rural life of the village. We walked among terraced fields and chatted with the local inhabitants, who told us about their traditions and how they live with the surrounding nature.
Not only that, but we had the opportunity to enter their village, and their houses, where we enjoyed tea with our guide Suresh and where the villagers told us their stories, every corner evoking the history and culture of the region.

Viripara Waterfalls and Tiger Cave
Our stop at Viripara waterfalls was another highlight. We had the opportunity to swim in the crystal clear waters of a waterfall controlled by the forest department, something that was very refreshing and energizing.
We also visited the famous Tiger Cave, a legendary site that was once home to tigers. It was a one-hour walk through the rainforest, crossing hanging bridges and enjoying the birdsong.
Lunch with typical food of Munnar
For lunch, our guide took us to an area in Manukam, where we enjoyed a typical Munnar meal, simple but delicious. We were served traditional dishes prepared by the local people, and it was an unforgettable experience.

At the end of the day, just as the sun started to go down, we returned to Anakulam for one last chance to see wild elephants. This moment was going to be the crowning moment, as the sunset scenery, the green mountains and the serene atmosphere made us feel that it was going to be incredible.
However, when it rains it is less common for elephants to come to the river, so it is possible not to see them. In our case it was like that, we were waiting for an hour but they did not show up. What a pity, isn't it?
