Is diving in the Red Sea worth it?

To be honest, after diving in many of the world’s best dive sites, we thought the Red Sea wouldn’t be a big discovery, and how wrong we were!

It’s definitely worth it. The Red Sea is a diver’s paradise. With incredible biodiversity and a climate that allows diving practically year-round, it’s a must-see destination. The crystal-clear waters reveal vibrant coral reefs, unique fish species, and for us, the best part was the thrilling encounters with sharks.

Introduction to the Southern Route Compared to the Northern Route

Mientras que la North Route The Red Sea is famous for its iconic shipwrecks, such as the SS Thistlegorm and Abu Nuhas, the Southern Route It is distinguished by its pristine nature and the possibility of seeing pelagic species such as hammerhead sharks and oceanic whitetip sharks.

The Southern Route is less crowded and features some of the most remote dive sites, such as the reefs Brothers, Daedalus and Elphinstone where divers can enjoy unique underwater landscapes and abundant marine life.

This Red Sea Shark Route on a liveaboard is the one we did and we definitely recommend it!

The itinerary, Southern Red Sea Route: Daedalus, Elphinstone and Brothers Islands

Daedalus Reef: Vibrating Hammerhead and Coral Sharks

Daedalus Reef It’s a stunning, secluded reef famous for its wild environment. During our dive, we explored its vertical walls filled with… hard and soft corals In excellent condition. The currents here attract pelagic species, and one of the most exciting moments was encountering a couple of daring ones. silky sharks, a hammerhead shark and with an oceanic blanket an unforgettable view.

The Best of Daedalus The feeling of being surrounded by sharks in such a remote and wild space, alongside the rich variety of corals.

Elphinstone Reef: Adrenaline and Oceanic Sharks

Elphinstone Reef It is a long, narrow reef that attracts divers because of its coral walls and strong currents. Here, we swam among coral fans and crossed paths with oceanic whitetip sharks. Although the currents can be challenging, the opportunity to see these sharks in action in their natural habitat made every dive here an adrenaline-filled experience.

The Best of Elphinstone The proximity to oceanic whitetip sharks and the vibrant coral walls.

Brothers Islands: Intensity and Wildlife

The Brothers Islands Big Brother and Little Brother offer some of the most challenging and rewarding diving in the Red Sea. Surrounded by vibrant coral walls, these islands provide a blend of strong currents, large predators and a great variety of marine life. We dived alongside grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, and even manta rays, in an environment where biodiversity flourishes in an unparalleled way.

The Best of Brothers Close encounters with sharks and the opportunity to see manta rays in one of the most remote and wild areas of the Red Sea.

Relaxation Areas and Sundecks to Enjoy

He upper sundeck It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the views of the Red Sea. Between dives, I used to relax in the comfortable chairs or the jacuzzi, enjoying the breeze and a drink at the bar. A true paradise for relaxing between underwater adventures!

A unique and unforgettable experience

Each dive into the Red Sea It’s been a true journey to another world, full of discoveries. Just like in our expedition to Arabia, it has not disappointed us.

One moment we will always remember was the dive into Daedalus Reef. Floating before that immense coral wall that plunged into the depths, we were overcome by a feeling of both smallness and belonging. The silence was overwhelming, broken only by the sound of our bubbles, and the landscape before us was like an infinite canvas, full of life and color. Being there made us feel that…The Red Sea has a unique energy, almost mystical, that connects you with the very essence of nature.

In Elphinstone where the Whitetip reef sharks They glided majestically around us, and we felt a mixture of awe and respect. The elegance with which they moved was a lesson in harmony; they taught us to see the ocean not only as a place to explore, but as a sanctuary where every being has its role in the delicate balance of life.

Each night on board, as we watched the sun disappear over the horizon while the ship gently rocked, we felt that the Red Sea It had left a deep impression on us. It wasn’t just a diving trip, but an adventure that connected us with nature and taught us to appreciate the beauty of the underwater world. The Red Sea Shark Route on a liveaboard was an experience we will always cherish.
