Hotel Casa Peregrino Holbox
Holbox, Mexico
Best time to visit Holbox?
We went in May, that is to say, we didn’t go in dry season which occurs between December and April, and yet it was a marvel: long days and clear skies.
Between May and November the atmosphere becomes more tropical, with the spectacular whale shark season in July and August.
Actually: Holbox is always enjoyable, only the pace changes.
Best areas to stay in Holbox?
Basically you have two options:
- In it Holbox center Like we did, you’ll have everything at hand: restaurants, cafes, excursions, and the beach just steps away. It’s perfect for making the most of the island.
- Resorts in the natural area: On the other hand, there are hotels further away, in areas close to the mangroves and the natural environment, ideal if you are looking for Maximum tranquility, disconnection and unspoiled landscapes.
We landed wanting to stop time, and we did. Walking on white sand The air smells of the sea. Everything invites you to slow down, to look more slowly, to speak more deliberately. And in this new rhythm of Holbox that’s where we discovered Pilgrim House.
The essence of the Pilgrim House Hotel
Casa Peregrino opened its doors in December 2020…at a time when the world was asking, precisely, to stop. And perhaps that’s why it makes so much sense. It’s a Boutique hotel With all the necessary luxuries for a pleasant stay. It’s a space designed with taste, with tranquility, with that kind of elegance that doesn’t need to draw attention to itself to be noticed.
It’s in the town center This means that you are close to everything The beach is 100 meters away, the best restaurants are within walking distance, and yet, with polished cement walls, it feels like a space for disconnecting, with a very successful design.

Casa Peregrino Holbox Facilities
What sets Casa Peregrino apart isn’t just its design. It’s the complete experience: from the moment you arrive, you know you’re in a place lovingly cared for. Its philosophy, which combines modern aesthetics with the warmth of personalized service, is reflected in every corner.
From the Jacuzzi with sea views, until the Nespresso coffee machine in every room Here, everything is designed for your comfort. It’s not about large, impersonal facilities, but rather welcoming, functional spaces, lovingly cared for. This is a house for travelers or digital nomads who appreciate good taste and easy access to everything Holbox has to offer.
Sleeping well means living better: this is what bedrooms are like
We stayed at the suite with kitchen and balcony And honestly, we didn’t lack for anything. Spacious, bright, with a bed so comfortable it was hard to get up (although the coffee downstairs helped). We had a small kitchen, a spacious and modern shower, and a balcony perfect for watching the island wake up.
The cleaning It was impeccable throughout our entire stay. And the details, which sometimes seem small, make all the difference here: fluffy pillows, a Nespresso coffee machine, warm lighting, a bathrobe, and good internet.. This star room is designed for extended stays. The sofa converts into a bed if you’re traveling in a group or with family. Comfort is paramount in every design decision. It’s not ostentatious luxury: it’s the luxury of functionality, practicality, and quality craftsmanship. The jewel of the hotel is on the roof: Jacuzzi in Holbox
The rooftop of Casa Peregrino It’s one of those places that makes you feel at peace with the world. Going up there in the afternoon with a cold beer in hand and your mind completely clear is pure luxury. outdoor jacuzzi The sun setting over the sea, the orange and pink tones of the sky reflected in the water… Nothing more is needed.
The terrace is probably the most special corner of the hotel.
Waking up to the smell of (good) coffee
One of the biggest surprises was the breakfast. Right below the hotel is the Clandestine Probably the most beloved café by locals and travelers alike. We’d go there every morning, leisurely choosing between toast, eggs, or tropical bowls. Let’s be honest, it’s better to watch life go by with a cup of coffee in hand ;).
He Breakfast at a special price for guests It’s one of those little gestures that makes you feel pampered. The atmosphere is warm, the music is soft, and the service is top-notch. Everything you need to start the day right. And if you’re a coffee lover, Clandestino serves the best specialty coffee in Holbox: Perfect for starting the day with good vibes and also offers, why not, a good croissant!
Who is Casa Peregrino for?
We went as a group of friends and it seemed perfect. But we also saw solo travelers, laptops in hand, working from the terrace or in the cafe. There are Good Wi-Fi, good rest, and good energy.. It is a space comfortable, warm and unpretentious. In my opinion, the best coworking space in Holbox, since there isn’t really any coworking space on the island, but this small boutique hotel has everything you need to work from Holbox.
It’s not a hotel for crowdsAnd that’s exactly what we loved. You can feel it. privacy without coldness, closeness without invading. And that’s hard to find.
The versatility of Casa Peregrino is evident. They have hosted from backpackers to digital nomads small families and romantic getaways. The most common profile is that of conscious travelers who value aesthetics, comfort, and authentic experiences.
Each day began similarly, but no two were alike. Waking up without an alarm, a leisurely breakfast, a walk to the beach. Then came the adventure: getting lost among the mangroves of Mosquito Point or lie down and watch the birds go by in Punta Cocos.
At midday, we recommend a ceviche—or a taquito—and a cold beer (you can make it a michelada with Clamato, which we love!) at one of the beach bars with your toes in the sand. And in the afternoon, on the way back to the hotel, that hot shower which tastes like heaven and a rooftop session that ended with the sun slowly setting. The night could be live music, romantic dinner, or moonless walk where we went to see the bioluminescence On our own. The truth is that although we didn’t see a great deal because we didn’t go too far, it was unforgettable.
The island offers many options, but it also invites you to do absolutely nothing. And that’s part of its magic. From Casa Peregrino you can experience both extremes, but what I do dream of one day is coming to work at this hotel, which, although it doesn’t intend to, is the best coworking space in Holbox.
Casa Peregrino helped us manage transportation with a trusted local agency. This made going and returning very easy (and cheap). They also have contacts with guides who organize excursions. biomuniscence, boat trips, artisanal fishing, or tours to swim with whale sharks (if you go during the season).
Our Experience at Hotel Casa Peregrino
Holbox, Mexico
Our experience: what we took away from Casa Peregrino
We’ve stayed in many beautiful places, but Casa Peregrino has something more. That “something” that can’t be bought or designed: it feels. From the welcome to the last coffee at Clandestino, everything flowed. Everything was easy, friendly, beautiful.
The room was comfortable, the service friendly, the location perfect. But what we really took away was the feeling of having found a corner a place we’d want to return to even before we left. And that, when you travel, is the hardest thing to find.
And it’s not just us saying it. Other guests echo it too. “Like something out of a magazine,” “the best place I’ve stayed in Holbox,” “the service is unbeatable.” These are real comments that confirm what we feel. Casa Peregrino is not just a hotel. It’s an experience.
The team knows Holbox inside and out, and they’re happy to share it with you. Thanks to Marike and Vale for taking such good care of us.
